Louisville Cardinals Lands Commitment For Another Top Player

Edge prospect Eric Hazzard of Frankin, Tenn., has declared his commitment to the Cardinals, just a few days after a ‘phenomenal’ official visit to Louisville.

Hazzard made an official visit to Louisville last weekend, narrowing his college choices to the Cardinals and Memphis.

“It went phenomenal,” Hazzard said about his time at Louisville. “We were treated very well. The hospitality was great.”

His visit included experiencing what the city has to offer and a closer look at the football program.

“We checked out all of Louisville,” he said. “I was with coach Morris. We drove around downtown Louisville, saw everything, visited Churchill Downs, the Yum! Center, and spent the day at the football facility and stadium.”

The visit also strengthened his relationship with the coaching staff.

“It definitely strengthened them,” Hazzard said. “I had my first one-on-one with coach Brohm and got to know the defensive side with coach English, coach Hagan, coach Morris, and coach Ivey. It was great to get to know them better and see what kind of people they are.”

The Louisville staff views Hazzard as a potential standout performer. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 91 edge prospect nationally.

“They see me being a top guy at Louisville and standing out in the ACC,” Hazzard said. “They believe I’m an underrated player in terms of star ratings and think I have what it takes to play at a high level.”

Hazzard received over a dozen scholarship offers, including Memphis, Western Kentucky, UAB, Charlotte, and Middle Tennessee State.

As a junior, he was a semifinalist for Mr. Football in Division I, Class 5-A, with 70 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 12.5 sacks, and seven pass deflections.
