Loisville Cardinal Transfer Lands $150.3m deal with Cleveland

Donovan Mitchell, a former Louisville standout, has signed a three-year contract deal worth $150.3 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The contract also contains a player option for the 2027-28 season.

As the Cavaliers aim for a championship run, attention shifts to Darius Garland, Mitchell’s backcourt partner. Rumors circulated during the season that Garland, a former Vanderbilt standout, might request a trade if Cleveland re-signed Mitchell.

Last season, Mitchell earned his fifth consecutive All-Star selection, averaging 26.6 points, along with career highs of 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers have reached the playoffs in both of Mitchell’s seasons with the team, exiting in the first round in 2023 and losing to the eventual champions, Boston, in the Eastern Conference semifinals this past spring.

Over his seven NBA seasons, Mitchell has clearly become the most accomplished professional from the University of Louisville. Now, his focus is on achieving the team success in the playoffs that has so far eluded him.

Congratulations to Don on his latest achievement … that’s a substantial amount of money.
