Breaking: Significant Boost For The Bruins For The Addition Of Two-Time Stanley Cup Champion

A two-time Stanley Cup champion is set to join the Boston Bruins on a professional tryout contract.

The Bruins announced on their official website Saturday afternoon that they have signed veteran forward Tyler Johnson to a PTO. Johnson, who will join Boston’s training camp next month and compete in pre-season games, is aiming to secure a contract for the 2024-25 season.

The 34-year-old has spent the past three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks after being traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he won consecutive Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021.

Last season, Johnson played 67 games for Chicago, accumulating 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists), 26 penalty minutes, and a minus-35 rating.

As the Bruins seek to stay competitive in the challenging Atlantic Division, adding a player like Tyler Johnson could provide valuable depth.

If Johnson earns a contract after training camp, he is expected to fill a bottom-six role and should be capable of participating in over 60 games in the 2024-25 season.
