Breaking News: East Carolina Secures Commitment From Highly Rated Offensive Lineman

East Carolina has strengthened its 2025 recruiting class with a commitment from three-star linebacker Jordan Miles from Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, Miles is rated 84 overall by 247Sports, ranking him as the 168th-best linebacker nationally and the 80th-best player in Alabama for the 2025 class.

Miles chose ECU over Arkansas State, which he also visited officially, as well as Memphis and UAB. He also received offers from Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, and Toledo. As a junior, playing for a Grissom team that finished with a 2-8 record, Miles tallied 60 tackles, including six tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Miles is the 20th commit in ECU’s 2025 recruiting class and the third projected to play linebacker. He was recruited by defensive coordinator Blake Harrell.

“Me and Coach Harrell’s relationship is great,” Miles said. “He’s been on me ever since the end of my sophomore year and has stayed consistent since then, which isn’t easy to do. With him being both my position coach and the DC, his plans for me really sold me.”

Miles joins fellow Georgia native Macklin Sanders from Ola High School and three-star Kendric Davis from Charlotte’s Palisades High School as linebacker commitments for ECU’s 2025 class. All three are versatile defenders capable of playing multiple positions in Coach Harrell’s defensive scheme.

Miles expressed his enthusiasm about joining ECU’s multiple 3-4 defense, highlighting the opportunity for productivity and his versatility as key factors in his decision. “I’m more of a wild card player,” said Miles, who runs a 4.6 40-yard dash and a 4.3 shuttle. “I could play boundary or field linebacker, or in the box. We’ll just have to see when I get to campus.”

Miles first visited ECU on March 23 for a Junior Day visit, during which he received his offer. He quickly became a top target for the Pirates and took his official visit on June 20. “I was impressed with how nice the campus was,” Miles recalled. “I was blown away by the stadium; all I could think of was making a huge hit in front of 50,000 fans.”

Julien Davis, a redshirt sophomore linebacker from Georgia, hosted Miles during his visit, helping him connect with several current players. “The players make me feel really solid about my decision and the direction of the program,” Miles said. “You can tell that they’re all about each other.”

Miles is the first prospect from Alabama to commit to ECU in this cycle. Georgia leads with seven commitments, followed by North Carolina with four. The Pirates also have multiple pledges from Florida (3) and South Carolina (2), and one each from Kentucky, Maryland, and Texas, totaling commitments from eight different states.

ECU’s recruiting class is currently ranked 70th nationally and second in the American Athletic Conference, behind USF, according to 247Sports.
