As for the rest of the Yankees’ pitching staff, their performance was not as strong as hoped. Clarke Schmidt had the most significant outing, pitching five innings, recording seven strikeouts, and allowing one earned run, although he also issued three walks.
Tim Hill and Clay Holmes were called upon to help, but both struggled to find their rhythm. Holmes pitched just one inning with one walk, while Hill gave up two walks and struck out one. Overall, the Yankees didn’t achieve the pitching success they desired and couldn’t complete a series sweep, but they did win two out of three games against the Mariners.
