The Notre Dame football team’s matchup against Louisville has become even more significant. Not only are both teams ranked in the Top 25, but the Fighting Irish also seek revenge for last year’s loss.
The stakes have risen further with the potential return of Louisville’s standout wide receiver, Caullin Lacy. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Lacy is expected to play in the highly anticipated game against Notre Dame, although he remains a “game-time decision.” Thamel reports that Lacy is planning to “give it a shot” and participate.

Lacy, a transfer from South Alabama, suffered a broken collarbone during the final day of fall camp. Initially, Louisville estimated he would be sidelined for 6-8 weeks, but later adjusted that to an “extended period.” It seems he may now be ready to return.
Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 190 pounds, Lacy was one of the most dynamic receivers in college football last season, recording 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and 7 touchdowns, earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors.
Fortunately for Notre Dame, they boast one of the top secondaries in the nation, even without Jaden Mickey’s contributions. However, if Lacy is on the field, he could present a formidable challenge for the Irish defense.
