BREAKING NEWS: Falcons Face Mixed Emotions with Injury Updates on Key Linebackers

The Falcons are gearing up for their third consecutive divisional matchup as they head to Charlotte to face the Panthers.

Atlanta aims to enhance their NFC South record to a perfect 3-0, which would give them a strong grip on the division. They may receive some reinforcements for this challenge.

The team has opened a 21-day practice window for Nate Landman, who is coming off injured reserve, and he participated in practice on Tuesday. However, this good news is tempered by the absence of Troy Andersen, who is day-to-day and did not practice.

Both linebackers have missed time recently. Landman was placed on IR after the season opener against the Steelers, while Andersen sustained a knee injury in Week 4 and missed the game against the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.

In their absence, JD Bertrand started, marking the first time a Falcons rookie has started in 2024. While he performed well, the Falcons would prefer to have either Landman or Andersen back for their Week 6 matchup against the Panthers.

Carolina has a strong running game, and Atlanta has shown vulnerability against the run. Having Landman and Andersen return would be ideal, as it could allow Kaden Elliss to focus more on rushing the passer. Ultimately, Landman’s return to bolster run defense would be a significant boost for the Falcons.
