MAJOR BREAKING: Setback As Louisville Key-Player out For the rest of The Season, agent provides update on his status

Louisville wide receiver Caullin Lacy has decided to opt out for the rest of the 2024 football season, as reported by Pete Nakos of On3Sports.

His agent, David Ben-Zaken of BZ Sports Management, explained the rationale behind this choice, stating that Lacy aims to redshirt to preserve his eligibility.

Lacy, a key contributor to Louisville’s offense, had recently returned from an injury that kept him sidelined at the start of the season. After suffering a broken collarbone during fall camp, he returned for the Cardinals’ game against Notre Dame in late September. Since his comeback, Lacy has recorded 15 receptions for 179 yards and has been impactful on special teams, notably scoring a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown against Miami.

While some fans may not support this decision, Ben-Zaken emphasized that Lacy is prioritizing his long-term health and eligibility. Nakos mentioned that discussions about Lacy potentially returning to Louisville in 2025 are ongoing, but no final decision has been reached.

In Ben-Zaken’s statement, he said:

“After careful consideration and consultation with his family and trusted advisors, Caullin Lacy has decided to redshirt for the remainder of the 2024 season. This choice was not made lightly, but it is in the best interest of his future as both a football player and a student-athlete. Caullin is dedicated to his recovery and looks forward to regaining full health. We appreciate the support of the Louisville coaching staff and fans during this time, and we are excited for what lies ahead.”

As Lacy focuses on his recovery, Louisville will navigate the remainder of their schedule without one of their essential players. The Cardinals are set to play Boston College on October 25, followed by a matchup against the Clemson Tigers in Death Valley.
