Florida State has been dominating their arch-rivals, the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Gators, securing the state championship for the past two years. Despite not having higher recruiting rankings than their rivals, the Seminoles have demonstrated their prowess on the field with a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons. This success speaks for itself, although Miami and Florida fans continue to boast despite the Hurricanes finishing 7-6 and the Gators ending with a 5-7 record.
Given their recent performance, neither Miami nor Florida seem worth the effort to compare to the Seminoles, who have proven to be the kings of the state. The Gators, in particular, face a challenging 2024 season, with a tough schedule in November. Head coach Billy Napier is under significant pressure and may face dismissal by late October if results do not improve.
Adding to their woes, the Gators failed to secure any commitments on July 4th, unlike the Seminoles and Hurricanes. To rub salt in the wound, four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, mocked Florida with a “5-7” record joke, highlighting the Gators’ struggles.
Joseph decommitted from the Florida Gators in April and immediately received crystal ball predictions in favor of Florida State. It helped because he had a familial connection to current offensive lineman TJ Ferguson, as well as a friendship with offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins.
Furthermore, it is not guaranteed that Florida’s coaching staff will be intact at the end of the 2024 season. The Gators’ fandom is becoming a little irritated since Joseph mentioned the 5-7 record from a year ago, when some people said that the excellent offensive lineman was discarded from the Gators’ recruiting class.
Joseph disregarded the troll attempts by claiming that Florida State was now his home. I’m thrilled to have him and five-star inside offensive tackle Solomon Thomas in the mix. On August 12th, the Seminoles hope to secure the commitment of five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty.
