MAJOR BREAKING: Yankees’ Key Plan B Option Officially Signs $182 Million Deal With Giants

The New York Yankees are awaiting clarity on whether superstar Juan Soto will remain with them for the next 12–15 years. In the meantime, they’ve reportedly explored options by reaching out to other free agents as potential alternatives.

One notable name linked to their inquiries was Willy Adames, who would have served as a fallback option if the Yankees couldn’t retain Soto.

Adames, formerly with the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers, recently signed a massive seven-year, $182 million deal with the San Francisco Giants, according to multiple reports by MLB on FOX.

The Yankees had reportedly considered Adames as a potential solution at third base, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. moving to second base. Adames was reportedly open to the idea of switching positions for a chance to join a legitimate contender.

However, he’ll now remain at shortstop with the Giants, who aim to compete in the NL West alongside the Dodgers, Padres, and potentially the Diamondbacks.

Adames’ departure from the market means the Yankees no longer have him as a backup option should Soto ultimately leave. A strong defensive shortstop with rare power for his position, Adames hit 32 home runs with 112 RBIs and a .793 OPS last season as a Brewer. His new deal—the largest in Giants history—underscores his talent and value.

With Adames off the table, the Yankees will now need to turn their attention elsewhere to pursue other star-level players this offseason.
