JUST-IN: Yankees Blockbuster Trade Replace Juan Soto With $427 Million Star Player

The New York Yankees have had an active offseason, securing Max Fried and Paul Goldschmidt, while also trading for Cody Bellinger and Devin Williams. Though these are solid acquisitions, they missed out on landing a player of Juan Soto’s caliber.

However, there may be hope for the Yankees as Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. could become available if contract extension talks fall through. If the two sides cannot agree, Guerrero would be a free agent next winter. FanSided’s Jacob Mountz proposed a potential trade to bring Guerrero to New York:

Yankees receive: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B/3B)
Blue Jays receive: Spencer Jones (OF, No. 2 prospect), Will Warren (RHP, No. 5 prospect), and Everson Pereira (OF, No. 10 prospect).

Parting with Jones, Warren, and Pereira would be a significant loss for the Yankees, but it might be necessary to convince the Blue Jays to trade Guerrero within the American League East.

Additionally, the Yankees would need to feel confident about securing a long-term deal with Guerrero. Jones, at 23, is the Yankees’ No. 2 overall prospect and their second-best outfield prospect.

With Jasson Domínguez expected to take on a larger role in the majors, the Yankees may be willing to move Jones. Mountz notes that while Jones’ raw power is impressive, making consistent contact has been a challenge. Last season, he set the Yankees’ minor league strikeout record.

However, his speed has helped him accumulate steals and excel in centerfield, suggesting that if he can improve his contact rate, he has star potential.
