COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) — The University of South Carolina has shown strong support for its football program by extending the head coach’s contract through the 2030 season, a move that solidifies the team’s future under his leadership.
Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati emphasized the coach’s role in fostering a culture of excellence and success within the program. “The culture and commitment to excellence that the coach has built shows we are headed in the right direction and on a strong upward trajectory,” Donati said. “This extension reflects our collective confidence and support for him as the leader of our football program.”
Under the coach’s leadership, the team has posted a solid 29-22 record, including multiple bowl game appearances over the past four seasons. This year, the team achieved a 9-4 record, highlighted by a historic four victories over ranked opponents. The coach’s achievements earned him several prestigious accolades, including SEC Coach of the Year honors and a national recognition as Coach of the Week for a major upset win against a top-ranked opponent.
The coach expressed his gratitude and excitement for continuing in his role at his dream job, thanking the University leadership for their trust and support. “My family and I love being here. We’ve accomplished a lot over the past four years, but we’re just getting started,” he said.
Along with the contract extension, the coach’s salary has been set at $8.15 million annually, with a $100,000 increase each year until the contract concludes in 2030. This move underscores the university’s commitment to building a top-tier football program and ensuring its continued growth and success under his guidance.
