BOOST: Mizzou Makes Another Shocking Move By Adding Georgia’s Top Line Backer in Transfer Portal

After a surprising basketball upset, the Missouri Tigers’ athletics saw more positive news on Tuesday, this time from the football team. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz made a major move by securing one of the top remaining players in the transfer portal: linebacker Damon Wilson.

Wilson, previously with Georgia, will stay in the SEC and join the Tigers in Columbia for his junior season.

He follows his former Georgia teammate, Darris Smith, who transferred to Mizzou before the 2024 season but was sidelined for the year due to an ACL tear during training camp. Smith played a key role in recruiting Wilson to Missouri, making this acquisition an important one for the Tigers.

During his sophomore year at Georgia, Wilson posted 22 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was known for his consistency, playing in all 14 games for the Bulldogs.

Just two years ago, Wilson was one of the top recruits in the nation, opting for Georgia over other powerhouse programs like Alabama and Ohio State.

Wilson is expected to have an immediate impact for the Tigers in the 2025 season.
