BOOST: Giants’ Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen Shake Up Coaching Staff By Adding New QB Coach To Strengthen Team’s Future

After a dismal 3-14 season, the New York Giants are continuing to reshape their coaching staff, marking their worst performance since 1974. Despite the challenging year, owner John Mara has decided to keep head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, and now the duo is adding a familiar face to the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Chad Hall has been hired as the new assistant quarterbacks coach for the Giants, after spending the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hall previously worked alongside Daboll and Schoen as an offensive assistant from 2017-18 and as the wide receivers coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2019 to 2022.

Hall is stepping into the position vacated by Christian Jones, who served as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the past three seasons but recently accepted a job with the Cleveland Browns as their new tight ends coach.

At 39 years old, Hall brings experience to his new role. He played five seasons in the NFL after going undrafted in 2008 out of the Air Force Academy. Hall spent his first two years with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he also contributed as a returner. He later played for the San Francisco 49ers (2012), Kansas City Chiefs (2013), and briefly with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014.

During his career, Hall appeared in 24 NFL games, recording 16 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns, adding 42 rushing yards and 224 yards on 16 returns.

In an interesting connection, Hall’s sister, Kelly, is married to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. While Stafford has expressed his intention to play in 2025, there have been no indications that the Rams plan to trade him, even with interest from QB-needy teams like the Giants.
