The New York Giants are entering an offseason that will have a major impact on the future of the franchise, especially when it comes to the quarterback position. The big question is: what steps will the front office take to address it?
General manager Joe Schoen has made it clear that the team plans to take a “big swing” this offseason. Their first attempt, targeting Matthew Stafford, was unsuccessful as Stafford chose to remain with the Los Angeles Rams. However, the Giants still have opportunities to improve at quarterback, whether through free agency, a trade, or the draft. With the No. 3 pick in the draft, they face the challenge of not having the freedom to select any player without risk, making a trade up to No. 1 overall a very real possibility.

But what would a trade with the Tennessee Titans — who currently hold the No. 1 pick and are open to trading it — cost? According to sources, the compensation wouldn’t be excessive, especially given that the Giants only dropped to the No. 3 spot following their Week 17 win over the Colts. A likely deal could involve an exchange of first-round picks and two third-round picks, though the Giants might have to offer a second- and third-round pick if Tennessee sparks a bidding war.
Schoen could make a game-changing move by targeting Cam Ward, the quarterback from Miami, who is reportedly ranked higher than Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders on most teams’ draft boards. According to one source familiar with the draft, Ward is “by far the best quarterback in the draft — by far,” and could be the ideal pick for the Giants.
Ward had a standout season, throwing for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, completing 67.2% of his passes. In comparison, Sanders recorded 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while completing 74% of his throws.
