The Texans are continuing to strengthen their defense and enhance their special teams with their latest acquisition.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texans have signed former Chargers linebacker and special-teams standout Nick Niemann to a two-year, $6.5 million contract.

Although the Chargers were reportedly interested in re-signing Niemann, the Texans made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Over his four seasons with the Chargers, Niemann appeared in 64 games, starting three. He finished his time in LA with 86 tackles, one interception, one tackle for loss, three pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.
His most productive season came in 2023 when he recorded 40 tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass defended, and a fumble recovery in 17 games, including three starts.
Niemann now joins the Texans’ linebacker corps, which already includes Henry To’oTo’o and Christian Harris.
