BOOST: Giants Secure Two Groundbreaking Superstars From Rival

The New York Giants are in need of a quarterback for the future. However, with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they find themselves out of range to select the consensus top quarterback in this class, a player many analysts believe is the only one worthy of a top-five selection.

While another quarterback prospect also has a strong case to be a top-five pick, his stock has been slipping since the NFL Scouting Combine. Some post-Combine projections have him falling down the draft board, even outside the first round in some mocks.

The Giants do have an opportunity to land a veteran quarterback this offseason, as they are contenders for both Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. If they secure one of these veterans, they could choose to take the best player available with their No. 3 pick, rather than reaching for a quarterback. In this mock draft, the Giants take that route, before addressing their quarterback need later in the first round.

Mock Draft: Giants Go for the Draft’s Top Prospect
Rather than reaching for a quarterback at No. 3, the Giants secure a steal by selecting an elite playmaker: a player widely regarded as the top prospect in the draft. This standout won the 2024 Heisman Trophy and became the first player in college football history to win both the Chuck Bednarik Award (Defensive Player of the Year) and the Fred Biletnikoff Award (Wide Receiver of the Year), after totaling 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, along with 11 pass defenses and four interceptions on defense.

The Giants need another dynamic playmaker to complement superstar WR Malik Nabers and strengthen their secondary. This player’s exceptional abilities as both a wide receiver and cornerback make him an ideal fit for their needs. If he’s still available at No. 3, he would be an incredible selection for the Giants, especially with a veteran like Rodgers or Wilson under center.

Giants Trade Up to Secure a Quarterback in This Mock Draft
However, selecting a top playmaker at No. 3 doesn’t address the Giants’ long-term quarterback need, even if they sign Rodgers or Wilson. In this mock draft scenario, the Giants make an aggressive move to re-enter the first round and make a second selection on draft night.

Using the No. 20 overall pick, they select the quarterback prospect who played alongside their first-round pick, reuniting them and laying the foundation for a dynamic offense for years to come. While this quarterback has faced some scrutiny, there’s no denying his talent. In 2024, he threw for 4,134 yards with a 37-10 TD-INT ratio, leading the nation with a 74.0% completion rate and setting an all-time career completion rate record in FBS.

Quarterback Scouting Profile: The NFL Draft’s Most Pro-Ready Prospect
With an accurate arm, quick release, and the mentality to succeed in the spotlight, this quarterback fits the profile of the Giants’ next leader under center. He and his college teammate have already developed incredible chemistry, and this mock draft projection gives them the opportunity to showcase that connection on the next level.

While this mock draft scenario might seem like a long shot, the buzz surrounding this quarterback suggests he could fall further in the draft. If that happens, the Giants could have the chance to land both standouts, creating a promising foundation for their future.
