BOOST: Washington Secures Another Top Cornerback, Bolstering Future Roster

For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Washington football team secured a commitment from a defensive back for their 2026 recruiting class. The Huskies’ coaching staff continues to build momentum as they add another promising talent to their defensive roster.

This new addition marks the seventh high school player to join the University of Washington’s 2026 recruiting class. With an impressive track record of securing local talent, the Huskies are on the rise, positioning themselves to maintain a competitive edge in the Pac-12.

Elijah Durr, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback from Mount Tahoma High, announced his commitment to the Huskies on Monday morning. Durr, a three-star prospect, is ranked as the No. 11 player in the state and the No. 75 cornerback nationally, according to 247Sports composite rankings. The talented cornerback had previously received offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State, and more.

Durr’s commitment comes at a time when the Huskies are expected to lose several key players in their secondary after the 2025 season. With cornerbacks like Ephesians Prysock and Tacario Davis likely to exhaust their eligibility, Durr’s addition is seen as a crucial step in securing depth for the future.

Greg Biggins, 247Sports’ national recruiting analyst, highlighted Durr’s physical playstyle and ball skills. Biggins noted that Durr uses his length effectively in 50-50 ball situations and praised his sound technique and ability to break well on the ball. However, Biggins suggested that Durr could further improve his top-end speed to keep up with some of the faster receivers he’ll face at the college level.

Durr’s commitment is part of coach Jedd Fisch’s strategy to bring in-state talent to the University of Washington, continuing the trend of keeping top local prospects home. Durr joins other highly ranked in-state recruits in this class, including linebacker Wassie Lugolobi and athlete Terrance Saryon, among others.

As the 2026 recruiting cycle progresses, the Huskies continue to strengthen their roster with young, dynamic players like Durr who could play significant roles in the future.
