MAJOR BOOST: The New York Giants Have Added A Powerful New Weapon To Their Offense

The New York Giants have strengthened their offense by adding a new player. On Friday, they signed former Longhorn Lil’Jordan Humphrey to a one-year contract. The Texas native spent the past two seasons playing with the Denver Broncos, where he caught passes from Russell Wilson and Bo Nix. Now, he’ll look to make an impact in New York.

At 26, Humphrey is entering a new phase of his career after his most productive NFL season. Last year, he set career records with 31 receptions and 293 receiving yards in 17 games. He averaged 9.5 yards per catch and scored once.

Humphrey has had a bit of a journey in the NFL, having spent his first three years with the Saints before a year with the Patriots. After a single season in New England, he became a steady presence in Denver, playing in 34 games over two seasons. With his arrival, the Giants gain another experienced playmaker to their roster.

Their wide receiver group includes Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson. At present, they will be catching passes from either Jameis Winston or Thomas DeVito, but that could change with the Giants holding the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

While Humphrey’s stats may not stand out, his college career was impressive, highlighted by an outstanding junior season where he registered 86 receptions for 1,176 yards and nine touchdowns over 14 games. If he can replicate some of that success in the NFL, the Giants’ offense will be in good shape.

No matter who starts at quarterback in Week 1, the former Longhorn will provide a reliable option for the Giants.
