NAJOR-BOOST: Yankees gets A Boost On the return Of All-Star Reliever From The Paternity List

The New York Yankees are getting a boost on Friday with the return of star reliever Devin Williams from the paternity list. However, in a corresponding move, the Yankees have designated reliever Adam Ottavino for assignment, the team announced.

Ottavino, 39, signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox before spring training but was released and later joined the Yankees. His return to New York marked a reunion, as he had previously pitched for the team.

However, his time with the Yankees was short-lived. Ottavino appeared in two games, pitching 1.1 innings without allowing a run, before being designated for assignment on Friday.

Looking at Ottavino’s career, he has had a successful MLB run since making his debut in 2010, with a solid 3.48 ERA. He spent much of his career with the Colorado Rockies, along with stints with the Yankees, Red Sox, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Ottavino could attract interest from other teams, as he’s still a reliable reliever with extensive MLB experience.

Meanwhile, the Yankees will look to move forward with Williams’ return. Acquired in a trade during the offseason, Williams pitched only one game for the Yankees before being placed on the paternity list. A two-time All-Star, Williams is expected to play a key role as the Yankees aim to make a second consecutive World Series appearance.

The Yankees will face the Pirates on Friday afternoon, with the game set to begin at 4:12 PM EST, as New York seeks its fifth win of the season.
