South Carolina’s men’s basketball team has bolstered its roster with the addition of 7-foot center Christ Essandoko, who transferred from Providence.
Essandoko previously played at St. Joseph’s University, where he averaged 8.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game during the 2023-2024 season.
Originally from France, Essandoko began his collegiate career at St. Joseph’s after attending Winston-Salem Christian School in North Carolina for his junior and senior years.
He later transferred to Providence College in April 2024, where he contributed significantly during the 2024-2025 season, averaging 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block per game.
Essandoko’s decision to join South Carolina adds valuable size and experience to the Gamecocks’ frontcourt.
His presence is expected to enhance the team’s performance in the upcoming season, providing a strong inside presence and contributing to both offensive and defensive plays.
