BREAKING: Cubs Secure Major Deal for Another Free Agent with $500 Million Contract

Reports indicate that the Toronto Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are nearing a potential $500-million-plus contract agreement. Guerrero has repeatedly stated his desire to remain with the Blue Jays, but a deal has yet to be finalized.

Over the past year, the Chicago Cubs have been mentioned as a possible destination for Guerrero, either via trade or free agency next winter if no new agreement is reached. While the Cubs are currently set at first base with Michael Busch, acquiring a player of Guerrero’s caliber would be hard to ignore if he becomes available.

Despite the ongoing rumors of a potential deal, Guerrero himself has said he’s unaware of any developments behind the scenes. He mentioned that his agent handles such matters while he remains focused on playing. “Well, until now, I don’t know anything.

I’ve always tried to talk to my agent and I’ve always left that to my agent. I focus on playing. Until now, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Guerrero said, as reported by Jorge Castillo of ESPN.

This response is another example of Guerrero maintaining the right attitude, making him even more attractive to the Cubs and other teams if he hits the market. However, it seems unlikely that the Cubs will have an opportunity to pursue him next winter.

Unless unexpected developments occur in the coming months, Chicago will likely need to shift its focus to other targets in the 2025-26 free agency period.
