The New York Giants have several options to consider with the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. While many expect them to draft a player who can contribute immediately, trading down is still a possibility they might explore.
One scenario suggests that the Giants could move down to the No. 8 spot in a deal with the Carolina Panthers and draft LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell, according to a recent mock draft by CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin. Campbell is among the top offensive linemen available this year and fills a key need on New York’s roster.
Although quarterback has been a major concern for the Giants, the recent additions of veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston give them more flexibility. Their offensive line still needs work, especially after last season’s struggles when Andrew Thomas went down with an injury and Evan Neal failed to meet expectations. Campbell could be a strong option to help stabilize the line.
Despite past disappointments with first-round offensive linemen, the Giants might still consider Campbell. At 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, he has the size to play tackle but could also shift inside due to his shorter arm length. Improving the line to protect Wilson might be one of the smartest strategies for immediate success.

However, staying at the No. 3 pick to take a lineman could be seen as a reach, especially when elite prospects like Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, or Abdul Carter might be available. Taking the best overall player could better serve their goal of becoming a competitive team right away.
With the NFL Draft just a couple of weeks away, the Giants will continue to assess their options. Whether they trade down or stay put, their decision will shape the future of the team heading into next season.
