football team saw redshirt freshman center Talan Chandler enter the NCAA transfer portal on Monday. Chandler, who has three years of eligibility left, saw limited action in 2024, playing just eight snaps — all in a game against UMass. A native of Nevada, Missouri, Chandler was a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He originally committed to Colorado before flipping to Mizzou.

Defensive lineman Joe Moore is also entering the portal, likely in hopes of securing an additional year of eligibility. That could come via a medical redshirt or an NCAA decision to grant him a fifth season. Moore, from St. Louis, transferred to Mizzou from Arizona State and was part of the Tigers’ defensive line rotation. He played in five games last season before a knee injury ended his year ahead of the matchup with UMass.

Moore finished the 2024 season with two tackles, including half a tackle for loss and half a sack. He also had a pass breakup, five quarterback pressures, and a fumble recovery — the latter remembered as the game-sealing play in Mizzou’s Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State in December 2023, following a forced fumble by Daylan Carnell. That year, Moore totaled 13 tackles, with 1.5 for loss.

Meanwhile, Missouri missed out on a high-profile 2026 recruit. According to On3, five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell will announce his college choice on April 30. His finalists include Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, and Oregon — but not Mizzou, which had previously been in the mix. Cantwell, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class (per the On3 Industry Ranking), is the son of former Missouri track and field standout Christian Cantwell, an Olympic silver medalist and five-time world champion in shot put. Jackson currently holds state titles in both shot put and discus, and broke Missouri’s shot put record last spring with a throw of 71 feet, 11 inches.
