Kansas State football continued building its 2026 recruiting class on Friday by securing a commitment from three-star linebacker Dejon Ackerson out of Oklahoma. Ackerson made his decision public via a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The standout from Putnam City High School in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, picked K-State over several in-state schools, including Oklahoma State and Tulsa. He held eight total offers, with interest also coming from programs like Oklahoma and Maryland.

Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, Ackerson is ranked as the No. 41 linebacker nationally and the No. 8 overall player in Oklahoma. Standing 6’2″ and weighing 195 pounds, he posted an impressive junior season with 71 tackles—second-most on his team—including 14 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles, which led the squad.
Ackerson becomes the third addition to K-State’s 2026 class, joining Texas cornerback Brandon Ford and Mill Valley (Shawnee, Kansas) offensive lineman Lamarcus Barber.
