Breaking News: ECU Lands Another Top Commitment Over Rivals

East Carolina has added another member to its 2025 recruiting class, signing three-star Huntsville (Ala.) Grissom High School linebacker Jordan Miles. 247Sports ranks the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder 84th overall, making him the 168th best linebacker nationally and the 80th top player in Alabama for the 2025 class.

Miles chose ECU over Arkansas State, Memphis, and UAB, all of which he had officially visited. Other options included Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, and Toledo. As a junior for a Grissom team that produced a 2-8 record, Miles recorded 60 tackles, including six tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Miles’ commitment makes him the 20th member of ECU’s recruiting class and the third expected to play linebacker. He was recruited by defensive coordinator Blake Harrell.

“My relationship with Coach Harrell is fantastic,” said Miles. “He’s been pursuing me since the end of my sophomore year and has remained consistent, which isn’t easy. As both my position coach and the defensive coordinator, his plan for me really convinced me.”

Miles joins fellow Georgia native Macklin Sanders from Ola High School and three-star Kendric Davis from Charlotte (N.C.) Palisades High School as linebacker commitments for ECU’s 2025 class. All three are versatile defenders capable of playing multiple positions in Harrell’s defensive scheme.

“Honestly, in Coach Harrell’s multiple 3-4 defense, I feel it would be a great opportunity to be extremely productive,” Miles said about his decision to choose ECU. “The versatility I could bring to the defense was a huge selling point for me.

“I’m more of a wild card player. With my 4.6 40-yard dash and 4.3 shuttle time, I could play boundary or field linebacker, or even in the box. We’ll see once I get to campus.”

Miles first visited ECU on March 23 for a Junior Day, during which he received an offer. He quickly rose to the top of the Pirates’ recruiting board and took his official visit on June 20.

“I was impressed with how nice the campus was,” Miles said. “I had been there before on Junior Day but didn’t remember it being as nice as it was. The stadium blew me away—I kept imagining making a huge hit in front of 50,000 fans.”

During his official visit, Miles was hosted by Julien Davis, a redshirt sophomore linebacker from Georgia. He also bonded with several current players.

“The players made me feel really solid about my decision and the direction of the program,” Miles said. “You can tell they genuinely care about each other.”

Miles is the first prospect from Alabama to commit to ECU this cycle. Georgia leads with seven commitments, followed by North Carolina with four. ECU also has multiple pledges from Florida (3) and South Carolina (2), and one each from Kentucky, Maryland, and Texas. In total, ECU has commitments from eight different states.

ECU’s class is currently ranked 70th nationally and second in the American Athletic Conference behind USF, according to 247Sports.
